My passion and love for our country is what drives me to be active in our local politics. As a wife and mother of 4 boys who are all married, I want for them and their families, what I had when growing up in this country. I’ve served on our city council for 4 years and spear-headed several local actions which have positively improved our community. I also served as campaign manager for my sons’ successful run for the State Legislature and continue to be involved on the state level as well. I have a positive outlook that anything is possible, we just have to try.

Genise Martin was raised in Bountiful, Utah by her parents, George and Marie Cavanaugh—steadfast patriots who instilled in her a deep love for the U.S. Constitution and the principles of liberty. From an early age, she was taught to honor God, cherish family, and value the constitutional republic entrusted to us through the wisdom of America’s Founding Fathers.
She and her husband, Greg, love being the parents of four children and have long been active in the political process. Concerned by inaccurate and harmful content in public school curricula, Genise met with educators who acknowledged the issues but failed to implement change. In response, the Martins chose to educate their children through a combination of home and private schooling, consistently declining government funding. They remain firm in their belief that “when you accept the state’s nickel, you accept the state’s noose.”
Over the years, Genise and Greg have served as state and county delegates. While raising their family in North Ogden, Genise served as Education Chair for both the Coalition for Constitutional Education and the Weber 9/12 Project. Together, she and Greg also hosted bi-weekly Constitution study groups in their home and raised public awareness through Genise’s published guest commentaries, warning of the dangers of indoctrination in public schools. For their efforts, they were each awarded the Good Citizenship Medal by the Sons of the American Revolution. They now reside in Farmington.
Genise enjoys family history and temple work, fitness training, and all things travel. She currently manages her family’s vacation rental business from home. She also finds joy in helping couples and families create lasting memories through meaningful, well-crafted getaways.
